WHITE HEAT BURNING DESIRE | GOALS
Have you ever been in a situation that absolutely removes any shadow of a doubt?
Well, I have, and there seemed to be a pattern once I snapped to attention began seeing the full dynamics in a way that I didn’t ever anticipate having to be aware of.
It’s a laughable moment today now that I have grown up and away but there was significant, important and undeniable toxicity that wasn’t fun facing and being aware of. Sad heart, anger, confusion, swift action with an about face to get it together and plan.
Attending an office training, I was eager to learn, dressed to the business professional nines and I can tell you down to the gorgeous necklace I wore that day just how nice I looked and truly felt. After the guest speaker left, we had a quick debrief to recap and share thoughts and highlights from our notes. Such a great morning, great group of kind professionals happy to with and know-wonderful folks!
And then…with this comment “I would say that Amber & I are dressed Business Casual, not Business attire”. What…wait what did he say? Wait…did he just really say that to me, about me-and why? Why as the leader would you do that to someone? The look on the others faces confirmed what I heard, and they too seemed caught off guard by the comment as they all took a quick visual inventory of the wardrobes.
Now to set the stage the others are dressed in range of blue jeans and tops to lovely tunic tops and pants….100% in line with business casual or casual. I pride myself of presenting and providing the highest professional standards possible and knowing today’s presentation topic, I gave it a little more sass…so this was a gut punch to me personally he knew it. So…noted. Literally noted and journaled.
All in all, it does qualify for The JOKE IS ON ME!, because I can laugh about the absurdity of his comment (one of many) and better yet for waking me up to a dysfunctional environment with gratitude of the awakening that encouraged the fine-tuning my observation radar skills and that is to put it respectfully and ladylike!
In addition, it was super awesome fuel to add to the inner white heat burning desire and reach a goal-so it’s all golden.
Don’t stay where the environment is toxic. Don’t remain where you are mistreated. Find strength and courage, then take action to improve yourself, your environment and never, ever…ever comprise your self-worth, personal or business standards.
