CHAMPAGNE | ZOOM | MAMMA MIA!
So, yes it really is comical {had you seen me signing & dancing you’d agree!}. A few weeks into the drama of 2020, I thought it might be nice to reach out to some special ladies for a ZOOM call to celebrate their big wins, mini-success or just have an excuse tho dab on some lipstick, dangle earrings and have a cocktail! Sounds fun, right? Well…the flip side was that I was petrified of hosting a ZOOM call…I had participated but to host it…run it…that felt intimidating. Sure I can handle it but at the time-yikes, what if…enter that fear we’ve talked about. Well, out of my comfort zone I went { thank you again, Coach Julie!}. I was inspired by a fun “Hang from the Chandelier” e-invitation (so very appropriate!) and I jumped in, sent the invites, blocked my calendar-that makes it official! No looking back now!
So the day arrives, it was a very tough day but I looked forward to celebrating these amazing ladies! I was excited to get a little fancy and have some fun-to let them share their victories (remember this was earlier in lock downs, new e-learners and other family members scattered through the house co-working, tough times or just pure chaos)…the victories could’ve been getting of sweatpants! Anyways, I was on, ready and pumped up! I showed up-yes!
So, turns out no ones else did…it was tough blow, not going to lie-it was a head scratcher for sure but I made the best of it…so, I had some fun with the Mamma Mia! soundtrack, enjoyed the champagne and learned more about ZOOM settings. Once I hung up after 45 minutes (just in case someone was running late!)-I had to remember WHY I initiated the invite. It was about THEM, not me.
It’s not easy to keep that ego in it’s place but I’ve learned to quickly snap it back into place a lot faster over the recent years! So, yes I laugh at this for many reasons but mainly because I did have fun-I did learn a lot.
Celebrate your successes, be proud of yourself and enjoy dancing, music and champagne even if you are alone!
