She’s a graduate of University of Oklahoma majoring in Communication with a minor in Business-she thrives in donor cultivation and retention, marketing, media, fundraising, program support, major gift giving, community engagement, and networking…she radiates the purest and brightest light bursting of positive energy and when she is in action mode…keep up-I know and have witnessed on many occasions! She is an avid waterfowl hunter and enjoys spending time in nature with her 10-year-old rescued red lab, Chance. XOXO
CONVERSATION HIGHLIGHTS
Higher Caliber:Katie’s was an avid Cellist and a softball player (Power Hitter!) for almost 18 years-she had to make a decision on which to pursue. Katie chose softball. MLB-Texas Rangers, NHL/AHL/ECHL-Dallas Stars oh my! Katie was the youngest Executive Assistant in the NHL at that time. She learned so much beyond the role. Katie is lucky, she knows that using her voice, platform, skills and talents are what she was brought here to do! Manifesting-talk about your goals, write them down, talk about them! How does anyone know what your goal is, if you don’t talk about it-then practice, get in front of a mirror…practice! As a former model, in her 12 years of being in the camera, it was an immediate comfort zone for her. She practiced, practiced and practiced some more. Now, it’s second nature for her. Katie enjoys waterfowl hunting and only this week hosting a massively successful 20th charity/fundraising event..this one was, a clay shoot-how perfect!
Vocation: Turning a tragedy into a triumph, losing her older brother she reflects on how this painful, intimate experience helped bring her into the role she thrives in today. Katie was able to transition her pain into something better an making a difference for others. She is very proud of herself and is able to reflect on her accomplishment, the growth and impact that she is making for so many! Katie has special friends…yes! She has always been in a leadership role and found that she had a unique calling to be a voice for those that needed hers. Katie is passionate about helping protect from bullying and supporting special needs friends. Spending time with her best friends brings her back to the core of why she is here and does what she does!
Ambitious: She link being in control, however, in her role as a Director of Development in charge of charity events, Katie has learned that sometimes she needs to “cope” rather than have control! She talks about having control over her morning, how she always thinks about it the night before. She envisions her morning but is ready to be a chameleon, be flexible. Learning how to adjust is one of the largest strengths a human can posses. Katie speaks to leadership and the tie in back to sports or art, even if you lead with a foot in the right direction is something! Katie shares when her business mindset kicked in-the intense self-review of her financial security and salary options while in the sports industry. She grew up seeing what the possibilities could be and wanted to strive to have a secure future for herself. She asked the questions, had the discussions and found out that indeed there was a glass ceiling that she knew wasn’t going to break or be pliable-so she courageously made a change. You can hear Katies resolve and business savvy in her tone of voice, the importance of taking initiative, direction and ownership of her destiny (thanks in part to her father’s example and council!). She’s eager to serve with ambitions to succeed.
