Jill is the author of three books: The Earning Advantage, mentioned above; The Courage Advantage, which teaches entrepreneurs new mindsets that enable them to thrive by working in courage rather than fear; and The Thinking Advantage, designed to empower entrepreneurial leaders to teach their teams to think deeper, more creatively, and more effectively for the good of the company.
CONVERSATION HIGHLIGHTS
Sparks: Jill share the freakiness of the core of an Entrepreneur. She reflects back on stories and memories of her Dad, where she feels (and thinks!) it all began for her as a child. She shares a notable, vivid memory that impacted her to this day. Jill shares this with us; as a little girl on business appointments with her Dad and speaking up to ask a question in this meeting of business men-then her Dad acknowledging her, the validity of her question and supporting her in the moment. Jill recalls thinking, “Huh, the things that come out of my mind have worth”. Powerful! Jill talks about her curiosity and asking questions. She is an author, three times over (so far!), and Jill mentions that she writes books to find out answers. All of these attributes; sparks, curiosity, asking questions are at the core of her entrepreneur soul. Health of the Leader exercise: she chooses to do this excellent exercise-listen up.
Jill 2.0: “I’m not done! I’m not done at all! I’m definitely not done!”Jill says, “Coaches need coaches” …she talks about how an achievement is reached that one looks back to review that the journey was the real success not the accomplishment. She talks about her journey of becoming her in this phase, how she discovered her brand in her authenticity-Chuck Taylors-THE best session of her life! As one becomes more authentic, we remove layers between us and our clients. Jill shares some thoughts that help propel her forward and how does she show up as her very best self, the very best for her clients. BAM! Accidental personal branding was the best for her-thankful for only one high heel in the suitcase! Truth telling to help us, Jill talks about her growth as an individual as she invested herself in the world of coaching. Jill talks about how she was growing, changing and learning but her friend groups were not growing. She found herself acting different in her existing friend groups. She noticed it was time to make some changes, so she did just that! She formed a group called, The Wise Women-it’s a philosopher style thinking for thinking sake club.
Dance & Sing: “Structure frees creativity” …4:41AM she wakes up. Jill talks about being very structured. She tells us about her very structured schedule and breaks it down starting with book ends: AM book end and PM book end. She tells us that by waking up early, by the time her work day begins, she’s already had a multitude of wins! Jill is a big fan of the coaching and approach of Heroic by Brian Johnson where he combines ancient wisdom and modern philosophy.
