Becky Renfro Borbolla is Senior vice president of Renfro Foods, Inc., and as daughter of Bill Renfro, is a third-generation leader in the privately-owned family company.
She has quickly become one of the most admired women in my world! Her warm and welcoming presence…she’s so approachable, her business savvy is evident and abundant plus her enthusiastic dedication and commitment in her many advocacy roles within the community. Throughout her career she has earned and received significant honors and achievements!
She is the Founder and President of Women Steering Business, a civic-minded organization dedicated to developing future female business leaders. Since the inception in 2013, the group has contributed 1.5MM in support young women!
Becky’s hard work also allows her the opportunity to travel the world to share Mrs. Renfro’s Salsa, from Toronto, Canada, to Paris, France and Cologne, Germany. She may be traveling to Korea soon.
CONVERSATION HIGHLIGHTS
Perseverance: Becky’s perseverance shines bright through our discussion and she makes it a point to express her strong belief in obtaining a college degree. She shares how it took her a little while to get her, but she did! Going at nights might take a little longer, but she stuck with it, finished and it has served her well. She also demonstrates perseverance in several other facets of her story, one bright example is when she talked about the earlier years in the business that taught her under some great advice…to show up and dance, don’t allow yourself to feel intimidated in a board room (apply to any scenario!) and never feel that any question is a dumb question. In fact, in certain situations, it could be a duty and responsibility to questions of something that you observe! Speak Up!
Exploration: Oh my, what a great many savory and dare I say…saucy culinary excursions she has embarked upon. It was fun hearing Becky’s travel adventures and excited for her with more on the horizon. Talk about making every moment count! She did share that the trade show days are long and not always glamorous, but it sounds like to entire experience of explorations, gourmet culinary discoveries and making new friends while enjoying so many vast cultures sure make those 10+hour days on your feet worth it! It’s fascinating to hear her reflect the long lasting and valued relationships she forges during her travels-that’s pretty remarkable. Or how about when she explored the possibility of creating an organization of women, supporting the young women showing their steers…she took action in a BIG way! I told you she was approachable and a keen business woman!
Quiet: Ah, the flip side of trotting the globe…she craves her quiet, down time at home with her husband and sweet dog Lily or just taking some quiet time to relax and unwind. Becky’s love of reading about other people’s lives, their path choices and stories both intrigue and inspire her. She also shared a couple of other wonderful resources that I’m anxious to read!
