In this Sorority Session:
You Are In Good Company
Let’s review the Conversation Highlights:
Passion | Perfection | Ethics
Growing up, my mother always shared many quips about the company you keep. Kelli spoke to this topic in her Silhouette of Success story. It’s something that I hold in high regard as well, so let’s rip off the band aide and be real.
Who are you surrounding yourself with-are they quality, supportive…ethical? Oh, the stories I could tell {that conversation will be later-it’s a webinar in itself}. The goal here is to make sure that the light is shining on you in a clear translucent, positive glow.
So, how important is this?
Have you ever heard the expression “You are the company you keep”? Sure, you have! Ah, but how much did you value that advice. I didn’t pay much attention until I realized how it impacted me both professionally and personally. Ouch. Ah, those pretty rose-colored glasses are back! Seriously, this is huge and needs to be seen for what it is.
When you spend so much of your time with co-workers and colleagues (virtual or in person), it’s important to be in the most enriching and healthy environment as possible. I’m not in La-La Land on this, there are many amazing environments to be a part of-hopefully you are there now or better yet, creating one while you build your enterprise! Sometimes we might not realize it until the little clues start building until the mystery reveals itself. Yes, the curtain has been pulled back to find that the wizard is not what or who we thought they were early on. That’s when it’s time to take a bow, share your appreciate and take big giant steps towards the exit.
This is became a deal-breaker for me, once you see the signs, you have the obligation to yourself and your reputation to make the steps to depart, swiftly…here’s a good one “A fish rots from the head down”.
In any organization that you choose to be a part of, the leader+team must be respected in the community and industry. Listen to your instincts, listen to others when they speak and watch their reactions when sharing who you are associated with…little signals are very telling.
Make sure you are in an environment that is in alignment with a positive culture, if not…it might be an opportunity to take steps in a new direction.
