SILHOUETTE OF SUCCESS | SORORITY SESSION
In this Sorority Session:
Success with Systems in Place
Let’s review the Conversation Highlights:
Back Yourself | Leadership | M-I-C
Well now, a woman after my own heart…Diana you have nailed it once again! I hope everyone has their Silhouettes of Success, Sorority Session notebooks ready-by now as we are in Episode 18 you should be ready for notebook #3!
This session is a juicy one, so flip to a clean page…
Picture it: You are in the midst of taking the steps to create and launch your business. It’s a journey consisting of long hours with deep research, due diligence, frustrating red tape, outlining the logistics, compliance with the industry requirements, creating the internal systems…some sleep, upfront equity and a bodacious dream and goal in front of you making every second worth it!
Whatever your industry there are things that must and should be in place from the beginning. A lot of times we find out and discover this later on that there is to something we missed or needs to be implemented ASAP…yikes! I’ve been there and done that!
As Diana shares so many invaluable mini-lessons, the one we are about to cover had me nodding while she’s speaking. While her specific system and acronym are new to me but the concept is near and dear to my heart. I know that the replay button on our devices will be worn out from this episode alone!
When I launched my real estate firm, this very topic was a B-I-G priority for me…systems in place. During my tenors at past employers, this was something that was caused office wide frustration, unnecessary inefficiencies and needless drama; when there were not systems in place, accountability from leadership or protocols to follow-it’s not a healthy or truly productive environment. It might surprise you to know but not every office has the foundational blocks in place, for example: Operations Manual, Policy and Procedure Manual or Succession Plan. Holy Moly.
So, what’s the big deal?
Without a systematic process and plan in place, there is no path to your goal. It doesn’t have to be complex…it just has to be in place!
Whether it’s how to process a file, who should be processing the file, what to do if there is an issue with the file, where to look for the file, who in in charge of the file…picture this poor little file, it’s getting dizzy! Now imagine you are watching someone in your office with this file in hand, this file is your VIP client, and it is going in circles getting bent up, handed off, dirty, misplaced and ruffled…why? You can see the comedic display; we all have but there’s no need for that…if there are proper systems in place.
It wasn’t until year six with my real estate/business coach that we finally nailed down that I am truly an “Analytical” at my core. Sure, I’m a walking, talking crossbreed of Expressive + Analytical {beware: a Driver under stress} but to actually be able to profess that I’m a true analytic at the core was liberating {the perception and stereotyping of an “Analytic” is for another Sorority Session!}. I require order with business and projects. Of course, it can go off the rails but there are systems in place create an immediate path to get back on course or at least identify the next steps to rectify. Systems are in place but all of that is available to evolve as needed.
Diana shared what can only be described as a profound gift to all of us.
She provided a solid, proven formula for systematic success in Episode 18 called
“M-I-C”…MIC!
M-I-C:
M=Maintain: What shall we maintain in the system that is already in place or the way we are currently working?
I=Improve: What shall we improve, it’s okay but it could be better?
C=Change: We are not going to teak it or improve. We are going to change it all together.
“When you MIC your systems, your attitude or approach you are approaching it with intellect. People can recognize and buy into it. Then get to it!” -Diana Osagie
This is something that everyone should write down on a sticky note or memorize! Take it with you to the office, to your team, to your boss…take it to heart and implement it TODAY!
