THE AMBER WEITZER PODCAST SILHOUETTES OF SUCCESS
EPISODE 14
SILHOUETTE OF SUCCESS | SORORITY SESSION
In this Sorority Session:
Good Morning | Good Evening
Let’s review the Conversation Highlights:
Humanity | Diversify | Family
Hello Silhouette! We are swerving off the path for this Sorority Session and go a little off the grid (catch the Alaskan pun!) from the norm…in other words not focusing on one of the main Conversation Highlights as our topic today. And if not going rouge and breaking the pattern for Elizabeth’s Episode 14, then who else…it’s just too fitting!
Traditionally, we would center the Sorority Session around one of the VIP Featured Guests Conversation Highlight’s, so for example today would be about Humanity, Diversify or Family. While all three topics have enough content individually to write pages about…I’ve been inspired by something that Elizabeth mentioned and it has really stuck with me.
So, let’s talk…
What is reason for a disconnect with the popular requirement to be awake by 6AM, or 5AM or 4AM to be considered a “Successful Person/CEO/Entrepreneur…etc”?
I’ve heard this over and over…in fact it’s something that I have a firm belief in too…hmm time to rethink this one. If ever a year to wake up and rethink everything, open the mind to new ideas, different perspectives and shake it up…it is this year!
Breaking it down…
She’s not a morning person.
She doesn’t wake up early.
She’s good with that (as she should be!).
Ah, but wait…
She’s very successful. She’s very {very} productive. She’s confident, rested and upbeat!
Time to break out of this cliche…putting on my pink, rhinestone encrusted boxing gloves.
One of the first articles that popped up while investigating was a stated a study showing that 90% of executives wake up before 6AM and 50% of self-made millionaires wake up at least three hours before their workday.
Then the articles were plentiful to back up this trend of thought…pages of them. Citing many famous names and their morning routines. In addition, most of the books I have read over the years indicate that an early morning is the ideal and acceptable way to set yourself up for success. B-I-G Success.
Conversely, I began finding articles that softly counter-punched the imposed expectation, so that was intriguing. Some talked about Night Owls or how it’s not necessarily good to force your natural body clock to change, that you should optimize your natural hours of productivity. Of course, those articles seemed to be buried within the pages of search engine returns!
For the record, I enjoy getting up by 5AM with my morning routine until the house gets up at 6:30AM. I find that the pre-dawn hours are best for me, my creativity, reading time, goal planning and organizing my thoughts for the day ahead. Once I hear alarm bells and footsteps…it’s Go-Time.
So, this brings us back to our conversation with Elizabeth…she is not alone in operating in her natural element of optimization for her best productivity and not based on the time the alarm clock is set for. I applaud her for staying true to herself and braving the common conception to speak up and share that with us! We are here to inspire each other, to share the real and support and to uplift! She did just that! She probably just set many minds at peace (YES, it is okay!) with sharing what works best for her, as it probably works best for so many others too!
To be productive, you must be well rested, clear mind, good nourishment and energized.
There isn’t a person, society, book, article or manual that can label you “SUCCESSFUL” or dictate what time you must be awake to be successful. Only you can make that determination for yourself. If something isn’t working, adjust! I will agree that a structured routine IS the common denominator for maximizing your day with the goal of producing successes, achieving milestones towards goals and dreams…but the beyond that the world is yours.
I found it so refreshing that she was comfortable to share that, not that others won’t or don’t but this topic for many can be like one of those tiny whispers that we hear…”if you don’t do XYZ, like so and so…you are not considered Successful”.
To be successful, you must hear and listen to yourself, what works best for you, when are you at your prime and optimum level of productivity. Then build your plan around that time, structure a schedule or routine. Maximize your output with positive and healthy practices to feel your most successful!
Have a Good Morning or a Good Evening!
